  1. Install GaiaDesk on the computer

macOS, Windows or Linux. Sign in; the app shows the computer's 9-digit address.

  2. Set an unattended password

Settings → Unattended access. Make it long and unique to this computer.

  3. Keep it reachable

Turn on Run GaiaDesk at login under Settings → Unattended service. It re-registers by itself when the network drops.

  4. Lock it down

Add an access allow-list so only your own accounts can connect, and turn on lock on disconnect.

Unattended access questions.

Is unattended access really free?
Yes, for personal use. The free plan includes unattended access, 5 saved devices and one session at a time. Work use needs Pro or Team.
Can I wake a sleeping computer?
Yes. Wake-on-LAN (Pro and Team) wakes a computer from another one on its network.
What if the computer restarts while I am connected?
Use Actions → Restart host. GaiaDesk expects the disconnect, waits for the computer to come back and rejoins with the same address.
Can I reach it without a full desktop session?
Yes. Open a terminal on it from the app or with gaiadesk-cli shell. See terminal over the mesh.
Is it safe to leave a computer reachable?
Connections are checked on the computer itself, wrong passwords lock the door for a while, and an allow-list turns away anyone not on it even with the password.
